Throughout the summer months of 2011 we will start our local actions with a series of eco-consciousness events on Thursdays, to be announced.

We have made a film of last years actions and it's available to view below.

In 2011 the beach cleaning events will be held on Thursdays T B A.
These actions consist of cleaning the rubbish from coastal areas in each of the five boroughs of Ibiza island. During the beach cleaning sessions we also distribute environmental information to the public, and accompany the clean-ups with music, theatre and film shows - proving lots of fun action for the whole community.

TRANSITION MOVEMENT FILM

After recent viewings at La Nave in San Miguel and Can Jordi, more sceenings of the documentary "In Transition" will be announced here soon.

GUIDED VISIT TO IBIZA RECYCLING PLANT

Learn all about correct methods of recycling in Ibiza

On Saturday 30th of April 2011 at 12 noon, you are invited to join us in a guided visit to the island recycling plant at the Cespa installations near to the Gesa electricity generating plant. (enter next to the Toyota car sales room just outside Ibiza town in the direction towards San Antonio).

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to discover all about the correct methods of recycling in Ibiza and to find out what happens to our recycled materials when they leave the island.

On Saturday 11th of September, the Ibiza transition Island group held the first public showing of the film 'In Transition'.
The event was held at the Ciel Azul apart-hotel in Cala Martina (near Es Canar) and attracted over a hundred guests, many of whom enjoyed a healthy dinner made from local Ibiza products.

IBIZA TRANSITION ISLAND

Beatriz Olivares and Chris Dews introduced the movie, making a short presentation of the new movement, as well as answering various questions after the film show.

The Ciel Azul apart-hotel will very soon become a meeting place and centre for the third local group to join in the island transition movement.
They plan to install a substantial solar electric power system in their premises during the next few months, as well as completing the installation of an organic vegetable garden which will serve guests staying at the hotel.
